Our Corfu apartment

Corfu apartment

So you guys, the top part of the building you see here is the apartment D and his brother inherited. It’s currently not in the best condition, so there will be a lot of work we need to put into it. Then there is the question of what to do with it once we have it renovated. It’s a more of a residential area so we could rent to locals. But honestly it would be kinda cool to use it as our vacation home. Although we really love to get far away and explore, it would be great to have a base when we visit family there. Plus, it’s super close to the ocean (can you see it? No? ha! well, it’s right across from that street you see in the background) and there’s a bus stop around the corner that connects with the beach in Ipsos and with Corfu city downtown. We don’t like having to rent a car for the whole time, so this is very convenient. And if we prefer that then maybe others do as well and we could put the apartment on airbnb when we don’t use it.

As you can see, there are still lots of things undecided, but I’m really excited about where it’s going. I’m currently leaning towards using it as our vacation home and already have a look around for inexpensive furniture – I know, ten steps ahead of ourselves! But it’s such fun!

Well, first things first, we need to build a new roof. I’ll write more about it later, but that roof is currently barely holding up (plus it really doesn’t look so nice right now). So check back every once in a while to see how we do on permits, plans, decor/furniture inspiration and everything else that comes with this adventure. And if you have any ideas for it or tips along the way, please let us know in the comments.
